Being re-integrated back into society is a challenging and shocking experience for drug addicts in recovery. This is why it should preferably be done gradually. Depending on the drug rehab and its policies on how the treatment process should unfold, addicts will be encouraged to attend, “aftercare” sessions. These may be in the form of group therapy or group discussions which allow its members to talk about their experiences after rehab and how their process is developing. Thus, they will slowly become accustomed to being a part of society. Many describe the process as having to start their lives again or simply press the “reset” button on their lives, making healthier choices and doing everything necessary to ensure that they do not return to the same painful existence they once endured. This new life may be frightening at first but with perseverance and courage, it will bring exciting new opportunities, promising prospects and a successful future without the use of drugs.
